Just Little Lovlies: Basket Bucket Tins

Making these lovely little keepsake baskets is fun and easy. The basket pictured is in a shabby chic style but I have done them in country with burlap. You can change the colors and style to match your decor.

Use a small tin can. I use the cans that mushrooms come in. I have done them in larger cans but the smaller ones seem the cutest.

Wash and remove label. Wrap the can with your preferred paper or material, glue or tape on.

Take a leather hole puncher and make a hole in each side to add the handles. I use a thin but strong galvanized metal that comes in a roll from the hardware store. Cut a length with wire cutters however tall you want the handle leaving about two inches extra on each end. Stick the end through the hole you have made from the outside in. Bend the end of the wire towards itself to secure like on a regular bucket. Now that you know how much length you will need on the other side, trim any unnecessary length now. Run the other side through the hole and bend to close it off. You can wrap the handle in ribbon or material for a nice finish or for a rustic look, leave it is as.

Decorate the can. I used craft pearls, vintage lace, ribbons and a vintage broach, The ideas are endless.
