Floral Pockets for Easter, Holidays or Any Time

These little decorative pockets or pouches are so fun and easy to make. I have done several now and some are available in my shop. I just love them and to me they have a real Victorian look.

Take a print or card that you like and make a matching square for the back. You can also fold a page over just make sure the graphic is positioned right to work. I used the fancy stitching on my sewing machine to secure the sides and/or bottoms. It looks very attractive and professional but they could also be hand sewn if your stitches are worthy (mine are sometimes but I wanted these to be fancier and it is much quicker on the machine) or they could even be glue or stapled. After sewing the edges, I age them with distress ink. Some I cut edged the sides first with the fancy edging scissors for a torn look, then I distressed over that.

On one pocket I added an edge of lace at the bottom. The possibilities are almost endless as far as decorating them. Fringe would be nice too or tassels. Then I made a simple handle/hanger out of matching ribbon and jute.

For the filler I used coordinating colors of tissue paper to fill it out and to hang over the edge.

I then used matching flowers to the flowers in the graphic on each bag.

That is it! So easy, so decorative. These make lovely decor or thoughtful gifts. I left the flowers lose so they could be changed out or the pockets used for other purposes and my thoughts go to storing little treasures like letters, birthday cards, notes, memorabilia, etc. Either way they are so pretty to make and have or to gift to others. With Easter coming up, I mostly did Easter themes but you can do any theme for any season, holiday or decor.

and let her own works praise her in the gates.
