Chalk Paint Decorative Jars

For years I have been decorating jars, at least a decade. The jars I have done with lace, fabric, buttons, or decoupage all came out beautifully yet anything I tried to paint came out horribly. I would see the beautiful photos online of painted jars that looked aged and gorgeous, shabby at its chicest. I recently found out that it was the paint. I was using the wrong paints and I am probably the last person to know this but I found out about the chalk paints which is the best for painting on glass.

Chalk paint on glass gives less streaks and requires no advance preparation other than a clean jar. I got my first ones today and went at this old wine carafe. I used Waverly. It will take a little practice but not too shabby for shabby chic! Easy and fun,

After the paint, I added a decoupage of a French label from the Graphics Fairy using Mod Podge and an edging of lace beneath it. I tied strands of pink and gold organza ribbons around the neck to match the label.

Viola! Ready to set on the shelf.

So the verdict is in, I love the chalk paint and will now be doing many more projects. I have actually done another two today which are drying but we'll save those for another blog as I plan to do a little more with them.
