Uses for Holiday Potpourri
The holidays are drawing near and my favorite thing of the entire year is making potpourri. I grow, gather and dry ingredients all year long in preparation. Dried flowers and herbs, dried citrus and pumpkin. I use as many homegrown, hand-picked and organic ingredients as possible. For added scent I include spices and oils. Nothing makes the house smell better than potpourri, especially at holiday time.
There are many uses for potpourri, the obvious of course, setting it in an open container in any room. Additionally it can be simmered on the stove in water or added to water in one of the pretty oil or wax burners.
It can be added to sachets for drawers or closets or as small but thoughtful gifts to others. Everyone loves receiving my aromatic potpourri. They also enjoy stopping by when I am making a big batch, the house smells so good!
For gift ideas, potpourri can be added to gift baskets along with scented candles, soaps and that type of thing. Be creative, potpourri is a very versatile item to have during the holidays.
If you are not up to making your own or do not have time, shop with me at Cheryl B. Designs Studio for heavenly holiday potpourri, grown and prepared fresh in New Mexico.
