Soft Vintage-Romance Photo Shoot with No Budget
It occurred to me that I might begin sharing some tips on the photo shoots that I do to help you get a look you might be after but think that you can't pull it off. This was a fun photo shoot I did recently to showcase some of my jewelry in a romantic, vintage-looking setting. I wanted a soft, vintage, romantic look. Use what you have, that's what I did.
I really don't have the space to shoot, nor any models, so I used the bed and it worked out well. I draped a brown silk scarf out then laid the dress over it, adding a crocheted doily as well. then I tried random things that had the look I wanted until I got the right layout. Teddy bears, evening bag, jewelry and hat box, an angel print and of course the jewelry pieces I wanted to showcase, arranging and rearranging until I got the right mix and look.
Then I started zooming in on each item that I liked. I have added a misty filter to these. I was working in gold light with gold colors originally but it was too much, too warm and I decided I liked the cool misty look better, so I went with it.
Here is the gold look I was originally shooting for, which did come out pretty too.
And another with the gold. I put an autumn colored vignette on this one to give an "evening" feel."
Lastly, here is a closeup on some of the jewelry pieces.
This was a fun shoot and I definitely got the look I wanted. These were shot on my cell phone, a Samsung 6. I edit in both Adobe Photoshop on my phone (a must!) and with the regular version on my laptop. For lighting I used a clamp-on Wal-Mart desk lamp above it and a Polaroid LED Light Panel on a tripod, from the front facing the set-up and it works wonders!
After I get the photos all edited, I use a photo collage' maker to make them into a collage which I love to do to use the nicest ones from the shoot to promote my jewelry.
You can create easy, yet beautiful, set-ups for your photos just by using what you have on hand, maybe hitting a thrift store or two, and using your imagination! Start bold, you can always tone down. Imagine what you would like to see, then put together what you have to create it. It's easy to get great photos with no budget, especially on a cell phone and using your own accesssories and decor.
