Creating by Natural Design and Supply
Most of my designs are inspired by what I am given; through the natural world around me, through the Spirit and through what the Universe sends me. I never create from an instinctual place, never knowing what is around the next corner. I find that when I try to "plan" something, it rarely works out or at least it will many times take a completely different direction from what I had initially thought. Art and inspiration have a mind of their own and that is comes under the direction of one's muse or muses, or as the Greek's used in the original reference, the genius.
Working this way makes it a little more difficult to try to make a business of it but all that I do is truly inspired and that is what makes it a gift; a gift to create and to share. I figure there are plenty of mass-produced products on the market so that leaves me the space and freedom to create from the heart.
As I said, I tend to use the supplies that I am sent or given. Last fall it was an abundance of amethyst and quartz crystals and though I had a class in jewelry-making years ago, I have never much made jewelry but I set about to put it to use and was able to create some beautiful and amazing pieces as I will now continue to do. The universe will help you to discover your hidden talents by supplying what you need.
Right now I have been blessed with an abundance of supplies that my daughter, another jeweler and crafter, could not use and I am putting them to creation of beauty; seashells, lace, wreaths and precious gemstones.
For other supplies, I try to browse yard or estate sales or little hidden shops for treasures, the unique, the vintage or just something unwanted that I feel I could use. I create, re-purpose and recycle when I am able as I follow inspirational guidance. Rarely do I throw anything out because in most cases so much can be re-purposed. Clothing that no longer is worn can be cut into fabric for other uses.
From the natural world, I receive many things, seeing nature's goodness and bounty as a continual and renewable source for supplies. In the fall I gather pine cones and such for holiday items, wreaths and potpourri. Fallen branches for fairy wands. I grow or gather wild herbs and flowers for drying in potpourri and some skin care products like my rosemary/lavender scrub. Every day I eat organic citrus and I dry as many of the peels as possible to also use in my skincare products, potpourris and wreaths.
Allow the universe to guide you and you too may find that all of your creative dreams are being sent to you, landing right on your doorstep if you are open to the vision of the gifts.
